What is the Nomad Residency Program?

This programs enables non-EU remote workers and freelancers to live and work in Spain while being employed by or contracting with companies outside Spain.

What are the governing regulations?

The 2022 Startup Act governs this program.

What are the main requirements?

The applicant must show:

that s/he can work remotely for a company outside Spain or be self-employed with clients outside Spain
that s/he has a minimum of 3 months¡ prior work relationship with the employer or clients
that s/he does not have any criminal record
that s/he demonstrate professional qualifications (university degree or relevant work experience)
that s/he has medical insurance in Spain.
Earn a monthly income of twice the minimum waged in Spain

Can I include my children?

You can include you spouse and any child (under 25 and dependent).

Can I apply directly from Spain?

Yes. As long as you are currently in Spain legally, even as a tourist, you can submit your application directly from Spain.

How long is the first authorisation for?

If you apply via a Spanish consulate, the first authorisation is valid for 1 year.

If you apply from Spain, the first autorisation is valid for 3 years.
